Would My GF need a seperate VISA to travel to Spain?

Post by Uddername » Mon Jan 06, 2014 11:17 pm

My girlfriend is travelling from Ecuador, she has applied for a General Visitor VISA and plans to spend some time in England. Her sister works for a travel agency in Ecuador and they can give her a free flight to Madrid, and then she will fly to England. The flights will be seperate so she will collect her luggae and go through security again. Does she need another VISA and I don't suppose you know which Spanish VISA she would need?

Thank you

If the flights are separate and she is going to collect baggage/go through customs and re-check in - then yes - she'll need a visa.

If she's just connecting one flight to another, then apparently she won't.

It would be sensible to try and get both flights booked together with the same airline (even if the connection is a code share) so that the luggage can interline and she doesn't have to enter Spain.
