Would this count as public funds?

Post by philwafc » Sat May 01, 2010 5:02 pm

Hi. I'm British and my wife is Ethiopian. She has been in the UK for 6 months on her setttlement visa and has no recourse to pubic funds. She has had to visit the dentist a few times and as she is a low earner we have got a NHS HC1 form to get help with her health costs. I'm just wondering if she got help with the costs or free treatment would this be classed as public funds, or would she be fine to do this? I don't want her to claim for something she isn't entitled to which could then jeopardise her ILR application in the future. Many thanks.

It is fine. There is nothing health-related in the definition of Public Funds, in para 6 of the Immigration Rules.
