Year In Europe - Visa Help?

Hey, once I've finished college I want to spend a couple of years or so travelling around Europe and doing some odd jobs here & there to help fund the travelling.

The question I have is, what type of Visa would I need to do this & where would I go about getting one? ... I'm from the UK but I'm pretty sure you still need a working Visa? I've had a quick look at the Schengen Visa, but on the site I looked at it was only for six months & didn't allow you to work?

So yeah, any help would be nice! & I'm sorry for being so rubbish at this, I'm only seventeen so I haven't really had much experience with Visas etc. before!

If so, you can live and work anywhere in the EU for as long as you like. You don't need a visa or work permit, just your passport.
