3 Year Route To Naturalisation

Post by Eaklavya » Tue May 07, 2019 10:46 pm

Hello,

My partner is planning to apply for her Fiance visa in a couple of months. I got my ILR (sponsor) last November.
We are planning to apply for a Fiance visa followed by FLR(M) visa which is issued for 2.5 years. Will my spouse be eligible for 3-year route to naturalization?

I have read various forums and it is not clear if she will have a clear path to naturalization.

Appreciate some guidance from experienced boarders.

Rgds,
Eaklavya

Your fiance will first be on the five year path to ILR (2*2.5 years of FLR(M)).

Then, provided you are a British citizen by the time your wife has acquired ILR, she can apply immediately for British citizenship based on the preceding 3 years of residence in the UK.

Many thanks for your reply. So 5 years is still a must for ILR, however, British Citizenship can be applied immediately after ILR.
