5 year visit visa ?

Hi,

I am in UK from last 6 years and currently on ILR (I came to Uk on work permit).
My mother -in-law(She is is widow) visited us for 5 month between Oct2008 - mach2009. We are again planning to call her for 6 months. Can I apply apply a 5years family visa for her as she has already visited us before? I know that she can not stay more than 180 days in a year but this will save her from applying visit again If she want to vist us again later.

You can always apply, but it may not be granted. I would have thought though you'd be best to go for another 6 months one first, or possibly a 2 year one.
