10 Years ILR with British Spouse

Post by jafferdeen » Fri Apr 02, 2021 9:10 am

Hi

One of my friend is married with a British national .He was initially given leave to remain on 10 years route. Then during his extension he switched to a spose visa. After 2 years of spouse visa he completed his lawful 10 years in the UK and he is granted ILR on the 10 years lawful residency instead of spouse route . He is looking to apply for naturalisation .
Question

Will he needs to wait for one whole year to apply for naturalisation ? or he can apply straight way for naturalisation as he is married with a British national

Please advice

He can apply now if he satisfies all the requirements for naturalisation - no need to wait 12 months.
