Letter from HMRC Personal Tax International - Urgent Help!!

Post by SriGan » Thu Apr 17, 2014 10:47 am

Dear Members & Moderators,

My ILR date is due in another 10 days(Tier2 ICT+Tier1Gen/Permanent Employee).

Since my employment history was missing with HMRC for 13/14 (rest of all initial 4 years were with HMRC) i have asked my current employer to submit my RTI. They confirmed afer submitting my RTI on 18th March 2014. Thought all went fine, but I received couple of letters from HMRC Personal Tax International (Expat Manchester) Team.

1)one with penalty notice for not filing my tax returns from 11/12,12/13...(nearly £1800  :?: :!: )
2) change in tax code from 944L to 231T (this code is for income above £100K per year, but my income is only £40k per year)

I dont do the self asessment because my employers does that for me and long back HMRC also confirmed that I dont have to it personally over phone.

Also not sure why it went HMRC Internationl Team. Normal HMRC says they dont deal with it anymore, only the specialist team HMRC Personal Tax International can help me with. But for two days i am trying to call them but i couldnt get line.

Its so scary at the last moment

Have anybody faces this kinda issue...please help me, will it affect my ILR decision :-(

HI,
After reading your post in regards to international tax, I would suspect the HMRC letter from International tax department as such. there are quite a lot of people who impersonates HMRC and trying to get money from innocent people. please check with HMRC employee helpline and ask as much as possible questions and ask about the clarification of tax codes.

thanks
san
