non eu family member of eu national visiting Canada

Hello all,

I am keen to know whether or no a non eu/eea family member of eaa national is allowed to enter Canada for holiday purposes with eu national ??? As Canadian law says EU nationals dont need visa to enter Canada. What about family member of eu national and holder of non eu family member of eu national residence card ? I mean I am non eu family member of..... and I have residence card, can I go to canada for holiday with my wife or do I need to apply for visa ??

EU rules on free movement is not applicable in Cananda, a completely different country & continent.

If you are a national who would usually require a visa before travel, then you will need to apply for one. It is based on your nationality, not your residence status.

Hi thanks. I am Pakistan national. Also I have another question dont know if its suitable to post here or no, it is : once I have exercised treaty rights for 5 years in uk , I will get PR, is it possible if I can get passport of Latvia as I am spouse of latvian national ?

Not sure about the passport, but to correct your statement : You don't exercise treaty rights, your spouse has to exercise treaty rights for the the 5 years.

Not sure about Latvia but I'd guess it's not that easy. I'm sure there will be some form of residence requirement in Latvia. Why not search online or contact an Embassy?

Obviously your residence (or PR) will have no ability to help you get Latvian citizenship.

you need to check with latvia for citizenship as usually for citizenship you should hace some residence in that country did you live there ?

hi i am Irish Citizen Living In UK my wife join me here in feb 2014 as a eea family permit she is Pakistani National
now she got 5 year residency as a EEA family permit .
does she need a visa to enter germany or Ireland?

Do you mean your spouse has a UK residence card valid for 5 years?
