British Passport for child born in UK with 1 parent settled

Hi

My child is born in UK. She and my husband are settled in UK through ILR. I was in Tier 1 and recently changed my visa as dependent to my husband via FLR(M). My husband will now apply for British citizenship.

So my question is can my daughter apply for British citizenship as well with her dad even if I am not yet settled? Any help appreciated.

See Born in the UK. Make note the use of a singular form - a parent and not parents.

Thanks. Have read this, however with UKBA its quite doubtful if not written explicitly that only 1 parent can be considered.

Could you please answer my question?

I applied for MN1 for my daughter born in the UK. I recently received her registration certificate as a british citizen by post in the UK.

My daughter is currently in India. Can I apply for her passport? or does she needs to be here in the UK?

Does the UKBA not require her thumb impressions etc for passport application??

Please help!

You can apply in India or if s(he) has an Indian Passport then you could get a certificate of entitlement (click) in India for the child and a passport in UK. The CoE is usually a faster process.

Well technically they are supposed to be moving all the processing centres to the UK. I'm not sure if that's already done. Really you should apply in Country.

She will need to apply from the country she is.

She will also need to sort out matters with the Indian authorities (if applying for a passport. CoE should be fine).

There is no thumb print in Brtish passports.

I can get the referees for her here in the UK and it is quicker to apply within the UK.

Is there a interview for children? if no, then why should I not apply from UK?

It will also save my parents having to first to surrender her indian passport and then apply for the british one! as I dont have to surrender her indian passport when applying from UK!

Why not apply for a certificate of entitlement? Usually takes 4-6 weeks.

No interview for children. You can't apply from the UK if she is not present in the UK. Those are the rules (you can call HMPO and ask). If you are asking how HMPO will find out, then they probably won't but it is not within the rules.

Well its better to have a passport than a certificate!

If I can apply for a passport within the UK then why shouldn't I?

I received her registration certificate so I should be able to apply. I think.

Hi All,

I am in the same situation,my daughter born in uk and now i received her registration certificate but she went in September 2014 to pakistan with her mum,can i apply her British passport here in uk,because i have plan to go next month to bring them back,my wife is on pbs dependent visa,i have got ILR,my daughter she travelled on paksitani passport with no uk visa, the only thing she can travel now by UK passport to uk,it will be ok to apply here in uk?
