Tier 1 General to ILR

Post by glsgwbmb » Sat May 23, 2015 12:02 pm

Hi,

I obtained my Tier 1 General Visa in Sep-2010

I will complete 5 years on this visa in Sep-2015, however my current visa is due to expire in Dec-2015.

My questions are:
1. Can I apply for ILR in Aug-15?
2. What will be the cost of applying in person with one dependent? (same dates for visas as mine)
3. How many tier points I will have to show?

Thanks a lot for help.

1. Yes, you can apply within 28 days before you meet the 5 year residence requirement. What date did you enter the UK and what is the start date of your initial visa?

2. £1,900 each (£1,500 for ILR and £400 premium service fee)

3. Not sure, but Set(O) form and guide is quite detailed.

Thanks for the reply.

I got my Tier 1 General Visa on 14th Sept 2010. That means I can apply on or after 18th Aug 2015.

One more question.
According to the guide "You can claim points for previous earnings for any single, consecutive 12 month period from
the 15 months immediately before this application."

So if I am applying in Aug-15 that means I can show earning for 12 months period between May-14 to Jul-15?

Thanks

That is correct. Any single 12 month block within the 15 months window, so from May 14-April 15 to August 14-July 15 are all valid options.

Thanls for the reply.

I entered UK on 20 Aug 2007 on student visa. Then got 2 years of post study work visa, before obtaining tier 1 general visa.

Thanks
