Validity of the UK Visa.

Post by Anuj Dhawan » Mon Sep 07, 2015 10:02 am

Hi,

I've got my UK VISA (Tier 2, ICT) starting on 10-Aug-2015. Is there a timeline with in which I should be in UK? Please advise.

After making my post, under "Related Topics" I could spot the following two relevant topics. According to which as long as the VISA is valid I can travel. But I've been "told" (by the office staff of my company) that I need to travel with in one month of VISA starting date - now only one month VISA is given and rest of the extension is done once we reach UK. Please advise if this is correct?

It would be more helpful if you had stated how long the visa was valid for.

With the new biometric requirements, they expect you to enter the UK within 30 days of the entry clearance's effective date.

@Vinny,

Can you please let me know from when was biometric requirements made mandatory please.

I had entered UK in July 2014 with a Tier 2 General Visa valid for 5 years.
I had no notification about the need to get a Biometric after entering UK.

Could you please help clarify.

Regards
aja

Don't worry. The requirement was only just recently introduced for entry clearance holders.

You should be issued a BRP when you apply for further/indefinite leave.
Biometric information wrote:Since 2008 there has been a requirement for people subject to immigration control, who are applying for leave exceeding 6 months must also apply for the issue of a BRP and register their biometric information as part of that process.

Thanks - so in the event of not doing so; one needs to go through the entire VISA process again, yes?

If you are unable to travel within the 30 days validity, then you may apply for a replacement, costing £122.
