Hi all,

I finally got my BRP today. Please find my timelines below.
1. Type of application : Switching Employer/Tier2
2. If switching, category changing : from Tier2 ICT to 5 years Tier2 General
3. Date of expiry of current leave: 30 June 14
4. Number of dependants applying at same time: None
5. Date application posted: 7 May 14
6. Date application received at UKBA: 8 May 14
7. Date payment debited: 9 May 14
8. Payment mode : Debit Card
9. Acknowledgement letter received: 14 May 14
10. Biometric letter received: 6 June 14
11. Date of biometrics enrolment: 6 June 14
12. Date of approval: 13 June 14
13. Date of return of passport and other documents: 13 June 14
14. Date (new) leave to remain valid from : 19 May 14 - 19 May 19

Experience : I got my surname missing in biometric letter. However I just did the biometric then told UKVI to add my surname in the system. If your name is mistaken in biometric letter, before calling UKVI, go to post office and ask them to change it. Otherwise you have to wait for 15 days to reissue the letter. My BRP shows correct name at the end.

This forum is very helpful. Do send me PM if anyonr needs my advices. Hope all good luck!

Hi Null,

Congrats on receiving your approval and documents!

Any advice you can provide on my situation would be helpful -
1. Type of application: Switching
2. If switching, category changing (switching) from PSW to Tier 2 (General)
3. Date of expiry of current leave: 27/02/2014
4. Number of dependants applying at same time: -
5. Date application posted: 30/01/2014
6. Date application received at UKBA: 06/02/2014
7. Date payment debited: 06/02/2014
8. Payment mode : Debit Card
9. Acknowledgement letter received: 07/02/2014
10. Biometric letter received: 07/02/2014
11. Date of biometrics enrolment: 11/02/2014
12. Date of approval: Waiting
13. Date of return of passport and other documents: Waiting
14. Date (new) leave to remain valid from: Waiting
15. Date BRP received: Waiting

As you can see i've been waiting for a decision since 4.5 months now. Due to urgent travel needs I requested my documents to be returned on 21/05/2014 which also meant that i had to withdraw my application.

It's been 18 working days since the request but I still haven't received my passport (and other documents)! :(
(on the website it says 10 working days to get your documents back!)

Any suggestions on what I should do to get my passport back asap?

My previous leave to remain expired on 27/02/2014 and although I made an in-time application on 30/01/2014, I'm not sure if I have legal right to remain/work in UK due to their delays in giving a decision on my application AND delays in sending my passport back!

Thanks

My experience is that UKVI has improved their processes and introducing technology to reduce processing time and errors etc.
i have applied through online which reduces payment processing time, to the point customized application and i knew what are the documents need to be enclosed with the very few pages application (cover sheets).
secondly i have enclosed royal mail special delivery envelope to return my documents, which has given me clear indication when to expect my documents by check royal mail track and trace service.

Thanks to all forum members for sharing their timeline and experiences.

Having learnt a lot through this forum, I believe it would be selfish not to post my case. I Was refused Tier 1 dependent visa last year 8th April 2013 with right to appeal, I appealed and was refused at the First tier tribunal ,I went to the upper tribunal and was referred back to first tier tribunal. To cut the 14 month ordeal short, I got a sponsor(COS) while my appeal was still on, with different cases I read here I decide to withdraw my appeal and put in a fresh application all by myself as I can no longer afford paying a lawyer.
1. Type of application: (Switching / Extending) : switching( with the 28days grace as I had withdrawn my appeal)
2. If switching, category changing (switching) from : PSW that ran out 8th march 2013
3. Date of expiry of current leave: Appeal withdrawn 13th May 2014
4. Number of dependants applying at same time: none
5. Date application posted: 16th May 2014
6. Date application received at UKBA: 19th May 2014
7. Date payment debited: 21th May 2014
8. Payment mode : Debit card
9. Acknowledgement letter received:23rd may( the letter says my application might take up to 8weeks)
10. Biometric letter received: 3rd June 2014
11. Date of biometrics enrolment: 3rd June 2014(17:30)
12. Date of approval: 12 June 2014
13. Date of return of passport and other documents: 16th June 2014
14. Date (new) leave to remain valid from: 12th June 2014
15. Date BRP received: 17th June 2014

Hope this would benefit someone as others people post had helped me in the past 14months.

May I propose that people also include the method of application?

1) Regular postal
2) Priority postal
3) Premium In-person

Hi Null1639,

Can you confirm if the approval date is 13 june 2014 then how visa can be dated as 19 may 2014 till 19 may 2019. As the visa date on BRP is 13 june 2014.

i have the same query my visa was approved on 10 june 2014 and last date is 15 may 2019, so this doesn't comes as 5 years.

Do you have any idea how UKBA calculates the dates ?

Hi Khaleelsubhani

Can you confirm if you paid for priority processing? This seems quite fast; I applied at a similar time and enrolled biometrics on 4th June so am just wondering if you had asked for any expedited processing?

congratulations on receiving your visa!

thanks.

Its good to see that the timelines have got better. May I know if these one month timelines are for postal applications?

I am currently on a Tier-2 visa, have complete about 1.5 years on Tier-2 and am switching employer. So I am planning to apply for the Tier-2 General visa (for three years) for me and my wife by post (£1.2k fees in total  ). Firstly may I know if I just have to reapply for a Tier-2 General visa along with my wife being dependant? Or is it some other category in Tier-2? Also could I expect the same timeline that everyone else is getting their visa sorted in? Also after completion of these three years, I'll have to reapply for another 6 months to complete my 5 years for indefinite leave to remain. Should I instead apply for the 5 years Tier-2 visa? It would be great if someone could give me a reply with proper links to the website.

Cheers and good luck with your applications.

Hi scro2014, can you please indicate when your leave is valid from and until when? I know someone who is going to make the same application and he needs to know whether the valid from date is the same as the start date indicated on COS or is it the visa issue date. He also need to know the expiry date if it is 3 years from the issue date or from the valid from date? By the way, did you apply for Tier 2 up to 3 years or Tier 2 over 3 years (which could grant you up to 5 years)? Thanks

[quote="alishaikhji"]Type of application: (Switching / Extending) Extending- Change of Employment (Application by post)
3. Date of expiry of current leave: Feb-2015
5. Date application posted: 12-05-2014
6. Date application received at UKBA: 14-05-2014

My start date with the new employer is 14-07-14 and I can't obvisouly resign from my current employer unless a visa has been approved for myself at least.

Hi alishaikhji, hope things are okay now. If you got your permit, can you indicate when your leave is valid from and until when? I know someone who is going to make the same application and he needs to know whether the valid from date is the same as the start date indicated on COS or is it the visa issue date. Can you confirm if you paid for priority processing? This seems quite fast; I applied at a similar time and enrolled biometrics on 4th June so am just wondering if you had asked for any expedited processing?

congratulations on receiving your visa!

thanks.

Hi kbs0425

Thank you, I just applyed normal post service don't worry inshallah you will get soon.
Hello Khaleel,
I just have a few more questions :)

1) You paid £1204 per person or in total(both you and your wife) for the postal application of 5 years?
2) You mentioned that your COS was valid for 4 years. May I know where can I find that information from? I definitely need to apply for 5 years and don't want to get a 3 year visa if my COS is valid for only three years.Do I need to let my employer know that they should give me a COS letter for 5 years or 4 years or something? Or will it just come up with an expiry date?
3) In terms of documents, you mentioned marriage certificate. Was your marriage certificate from an Asian country?
Did you do a paper application or an online application and printed it off? Could you provide me with any links as such?
Also I have my sponsor giving me a letter to show that they will cover me and my wife for the first month of employment. Do I need anything else to show on that apart from that in maintenance funds?

May I ask what all documents did you submit for your wife? My wife is already on a tier-2 dependant visa. I am just switching my sponsor.
