Will application be affected by marital problems?

Hello,

My friend has been married to a BC for four years and living in England. She passed the life test and applied five weeks ago for citizenship.

Since then problems in her marriage have got worse and she wants to have at least a trial separation from her husband and stay with friends for a couple of weeks. However, she's worried about how this will affect the application for citizenship.

Baring in mind that even if they do divorce, which in itself can take six months to become official, is there any risk that the UK Border Control will ask about her marriage and what's going on with it? She's worried that they may ask for her husband's documents or speak with him. Does this happen often? Or now that the application is in the system, can it not be affected?

Did she apply as a spouse of British citizen? Then she should have already provided his documents and the HO rarely ask for more documents from the BC.

In any case, she should not worry as marital problems should not affect the application.
