Dear All,
I have applied for British passport for my new born child last month in India. I was wondering if others could share their experience on timescale for processing (the high commission website mentions 16 weeks).
In our case
8th December - Application sent by courier
12th December - Credit Card charged
Now waiting.
Also, does charging CC means they have accepted the application?
In our case Father is British and mother is ILR holder.
Thanks all.

I applied for a UK passport for my son at VFS Thailand Bangkok.
Date of application: 13/11/2014
Received by IPS: 17/11/2014
Fee taken: 18/11/2014
Date of return of documents: No documents returned. They took only photo copies.
called from VFS: 30/12/2014
Date of Passport Receipt/Pick up: 2/1/2015
Documents submitted.
1. UK passport.
2. my wife UK passport.
3. my son Thai birth certificate.
4. a translation of my son Thai birth certificate and verified by Thai authority.
5. Thai address book to prove me and my wife address in Thailand.
6. Thai ID card.
7. my wife Thai ID card.
8. Naturalisation certificate.
9. my wife naturalisation certificate.
10. UK married certificate.
They only took photocopies not the original documents.
No interview attended.
No email asked for more information.
It said in the website
http://www.gov.uk that it would take at least 8 weeks for an applications made in Thailand and from when it’s received by IPS in the UK.
I read on the website that some people waited for a very long time but in my case it took just under 8 week.
Hope this info helps everyone.
