Permanent to contract job affecting Citizenship application.

Hello All,

I am due to apply for my British Citizenship (Naturalization) in next few days and I am in a big confusion.

I came to UK on work permit (called Tier-2) in Jan 2007. Got ILR in Jan 2012 and was working for the same company on permanent role until Nov 2012. In Nov 2012, my company got liquidated and I was made redundant along with my group. Fortunately I managed to get a contract role in Dec 2012 which is ongoing at the moment. I have my own limited company now and in the application (form_an), I had to mention about my job.

I have evidence of my PAYE tax (pay slips) until Nov 2012 but as I am self employed now, I don't have any HM Revenue & Customs self assessment statement of account. Does anyone had the same situation or was in the same boat as me. Should I mention all this in my application ??

Any Suggestion or Experience shared would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello,

There is no requirement to be working when you apply. You shouldn't need to submit payslips or P60's for that matter either.

The UKBA will check that your taxes are in order. You may simply add a note on your application to say you are not due a self assessment yet.

Here is a similar experience to yours

Good luck

Employment is not a requirement for Naturalisation. Good luck with your application.
