Hi there,

I am going to apply for British Citizenship using the Form AN in March 2014, I have a question regarding point 1.17 in Page 4 of the form where we have to provide our addresses for the past five years. Actually I have been outside the UK for about 8 months at a stretch during the last five years, do I need to provide the address where I was living outside the UK in those 8 months.

Thanks,
meghna

I got my ILR on Nov 2012 and I am going to apply for British Citizenship using the Form AN in March 2014. According to Guide AN and Booklet AN, we should not have been outside the UK for more than 450 days in the 5 year qualifying period and more than 90 days in the last 12 months.

Is there any rule stating that we should not have been out of the UK at a stretch for certain number of days in the 5 year qualifying period, because I was outside the UK for 280 days (about 9 months) at a stretch in the 5 year qualifying period but my total number of days outside the UK in the 5 year qualifying period is still less than 450 days and I have not been outside the UK in the last 12 months. Will I meet the Residence Requirements in this scenario.

Thanks in advance,
meghna

yes, your absence is fine. it's the cumulative duration only that matters.

I found this great document for the absences in UK for EEA. It basically states that because there is not way of checking if EEA person was outside UK, they way they approach it is by assuming a person was in uk unless showed otherwise.

Hi All,

In point number 6.7 of page 16 in the Form AN, it says *Delete if not applicable, I assume if I just cut across the lines in that point, it should be okay?

Thanks,
meghna

Hello there,

One of my referee who needs to be a British Citizen got her british citizenship only last year, is that okay, does it matter how long the referee has been a british citizen for.

Thanks a lot...

Thanks a lot Jambo,

And my other referee is Indian, he is an engineer with professional qualifications, following the list of accepted professional persons, I hope this referee is okay too.
