Hi All,

I will be applying for my British citizenship in the second week of September 2014 when I become eligible.

Currently I hold an Indian passport that expires on 3 April 2015.

My queries are:

1. Can I apply for British citizenship in the month of September with 6 months of passport validity? Will this cause any demerit to my case application?
2. Is there any minimum period of passport validity that is required to apply for British citizenship?
3. Are there any rules on the gov.uk site that you reference me about passport validity and application of British citizenship?

There is no passport validity requirement.

Thanks Amber.. Its a relief to know that.. Is there any page in gov.uk or anywhere else I could get to read that and have as a valid reference from government site if in case VFS raises this point...Just trying to be prepared

We will be applying our British citizenship by 2nd week of January but my wife's passport expires on end of Feb. Is that okay?

Do we need to have a valid Indian passport when applying British citizenship? Could anyone please advise on the same?

Hence, there is nothing mentioned.

But perhaps if the passport had expired, then you may get confirmation that you haven't applied for another passport and secretly traveled on it.

Thanks Vinny, In our case, Its going to be expired in Feb but we are applying by 05-Jan, So I don't think, there won't be any issues.
