Morning!
I was granted ILR last week and wanted to apply citizenship for my kid. My child was born in UK but is now in India.
Please can someone be able to help with my question as below.
I went through the guidance document and it says:
“Section 1 (3) - A child born in the UK whose parents are not British citizens and were not settled in the UK (see page 6) will have an entitlement to register when their parents become settled in the UK or become British citizens.” So my understanding is if a child born to non EU parents in UK, then he/she will be eligible for citizenship even tough the parents are not setteled at the time the baby was born. Please correct if my understanding is wrong?
The main reason I am asking this question is when I use the calculator to see if my child is British or not it have got the below result
• When were you born?
o On or after 1 January 1983
• Were you born in the UK or a qualifying territory?
o Yes
• When you were born, was one of your parents a British citizen or legally settled in the UK?
o No
• Has one or both of your parents become a British citizen or legally settled in the UK since you were born?
o Yes
You're not a British citizen
I am totally confused. Am I missing something?

That's correct. Since neither parents were settled nor British when child was born in the UK, child is not British, until registration is granted.

Can I bring my child on visitor visa and apply for registration(MN1) while he is on visitor visa? by the way my child is 20 months old.
