i was born in anguilla 1988 to a british father. at the time of my birth my mom was a non british she then got her belonger status after my birth. my parents were never married. i applied for a british passport and they say i may not be a british citenzen because my mom was not legally settled at the time of my birth. now that i paid my aplication fee online and posted all my documents its not fair. they asked me to send her belonger status> so what do you guys advice me to do. my mom now holds a british passport cant she pass it on to me?

Is your father British born?

Please use Google and search "Form UKF" and have a read who qualifies for this.

i did everything online did my application form and mailed my documents also paid the fee. so if im not successful i guess all this money would be wasted.
i think this applys to me you’re a British overseas territories citizen if both the following apply:

you were born in a British overseas territory
at the time of your birth one of your parents was a British overseas territories citizen or legally settled in a British overseas territory
here it didnt specify if my parents were married and didnt ask if mother or father it just said one parent

i applied for my british passport online i paid 103 pounds. now the passport office emailed me today from durham saying i might not be eliglble because my parents were not married at the time of my birth but i have to mail her belonger status also

What is a 'belonger status'?

You are not British, so don't qualify for a passport.

You have to register yourself as British. Look up the UKF form I have advised, it is for people born to British citizen fathers who were not married to the mother.

It also depends on what form of British Citizenship your father held.

belonger status is certification that a person can live and work in a country for example anguilla. did u also use the ukf form where were ur dad born howmuch thecost would be, my dad was born in anguilla

can i apply for the ufk form evn though im outside the uk? and would it be a problem that i cant go to the cermony because im not in the uk?

OK, first things first;
What was your mother's citizenship at the time of your birth?
What was your father's citizenship at the time of your birth?
Where were you born?
Where are currently located?
How old are you now?

If your mother was not a British citizen at the time of your birth, you are not a British citizen by birth and have to apply for British citizenship. Her becoming a British citizen later on does not give you British citizenship.

Belonger status is categorisation of BOTC citizen, that allows British overseas territories to regulate their right of abode, as they do not have their own distinct citizenship. So, for instance, to have right of abode in Anguilla, you would need both BOTC citizenship and Anguillan belonger status. Somebody with a BOTC citizenship and Bermudan belonger status would have to immigrate to Anguilla and earn belonger status there just like a non-EEA citizen in the UK.
