Hi,

My wife and I were recently granted ILR and we are looking to register our son who was born in UK as UK citizen. One of the requirements is to provide our marriage certificate.
Our marriage certificate was issued in India and was not Ministry of External Affairs endorsed. ( we never had a problem and during my wife's dependent visa applications we had furnished the original copy without this attestation).
I am assuming that the attestation is not mandatory - can someone please confirm.

Regards

A marriage certificate is only required for children born before 2006.

Thanks CR001 for the quick response.

I am referring to the MN1 guide -
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... r_2015.pdf

Page 29 - section for "FOR CHILDREN LIVING IN THE UK" and the associated documents where it mentions the marriage certificate

Can you please clarify.

Regards

Not needed for section 1(3) applications if the child was born after 2006. The guidance notes does not cover every eventuality as MN1 is used for many section of the nationality act applications.

If you want to submit one, then by all means do and as long as it is a valid marriage certificate it should be fine, especially if it was used for your immigration process with your spouse.
