Hi All,
I will soon be eligible for Naturalisation and BC. The situation is i will be able to apply for Naturalisation on 17th March. I have a vacation planned for June first week. It seems difficult that I will be able to get hold of british passport by first week of june if I start the process on 17th march. I understand that I can use the NCS process so that I dont have to submit my current ( indian passport ) and ILR BRP card along with my application. My question is, can I use my Indian passport and ILR BRP card to travel during my application process ..i.e. while my Naturalisation application is pending , can I apply for schengen visa on Indian passport and then use it to travel to Spain and come back to UK on ILR BRP card.
please advice.
thnks
K

Yes - no restriction on travel, you are not British until you attend the ceremony, but still bear in mind timings, there's only a limited windowa allowed to book and attend ceremony.

Just be available for enrolling biometrics and for any follow up enquiries from HO caseworker.

thanks guys ... just one clarification ..lets assume that I make the Naturalisation application on 17th March .. and since i need to travel to Spain in June ..so I apply for my schengen visa on my Indian passport which I get as well... now as we come closer to my travel date which is June first week .. and lets assume i get my naturalization application approved on 1st june while I need to travel on 5th June. So obviously I cant get my british passport by 5th June ..so Can i still travel outside UK on indian passport and come back on BRP ILR card while my Naturalisation application is approved but ceremony has not been done and British passport has not arrived.

best,
K

Unless you opt for JCAP you won't get a passport until you apply for one (after ceremony).

If approved, you have 21 days to arrange a ceremony.
And you have 3 months to attend a ceremony or the approval will lapse.

i understand that i have 21 days to arrange ceremony ...but my question can i travel on my Indian passport and come back to UK on my ILR BRP card while I have not attended the ceremony and haven't got my British passport. In a sense question .." is my Indian passport invalid the moment my naturilization is accepted and whether my ILR BRP card still valid while my naturilisation is accepted but ceremony not completed " .

You only become British at the ceremony.
You are not British until you have sworn or affirmed allegiance at the oath-taking ceremony. That is what it is for.

You are only British AFTER you have attended your ceremony NOT from letter of approval date. So until you have attended your ceremony, you are free to travel on Indian passport and ILR.

Edit : pipped by noajthan
