Hello,
Has anyone received a letter from home office requiring evidence of financial support during the period of being illegal? And how it was dealt with?
Or is there a thread for this already?
This is for British Citizenship application.
Thank you.

When and for how long were you illegal? What were your circumstances at the time (arrived on a visit visa and overtstaed, asylum seeker, refugee, etc)? When and how did you become legal?

The first DL in 2009, the second DL was 3 years after the first one.

Did you work while you had no legal status?

How did you support yourself?

I had help from family during the period.

Then you will need to provide evidence of that as HO has asked for.

Thank you...do you know if there is anyone else on this forum whom have this requested? And what was the outcome?

Yes there are others but I wouldn't know which users they are so can't provide links. Most have worked illegally or have no evidence of 'family support' which then mostly results in a refusal unless 10 years has passed since their status became legal etc.

I was in a similar situation where I was considered "illegal/over-stayer" while waiting for outcome of my case. in my case I was luck enough to be granted with the privilege to became a British citizen as I had all the evidence to prove my situation. If you have enough proof to show that you were sustaining yourself legally and not working illegally, it will help your case. Include a very good covering letter, describing in detail what you were doing at this time as well as all the documents you can provide to back your case.

Good luck
