British naturalisation certificate replacement

Hi new here sorry. I’m trying to apply for my certificate of naturalisation but it’s asking me for a reference number or the year I got it. I got my first British passport around 2004 and my mum has unfortunately lost my certificate. Any other way to fill in these details and request a replacement as my lawyer needs this for an application. Thanks

HMPO should already have a record of your Naturalisation certificate, as they would have required it for your first British passport. Would it be easier for son to apply for a British passport instead?

I was advised by my lawyer to get my son a certificate of entitlement instead as it’s quicker and I don’t mind paying more. I’m just confused as I’m told I need my naturalisation certificate for this and I don’t know how else to get a replacement. Would just my British passport be ok? Or any other way? Thanks for your help

Yes. Try using your British passport. Explain that you were registered (as a child) or naturalised (as an adult) but don't remember all the details. They may be able find your citizenship records from that.
