Registration of BOC - discretion of 1 year ILR?

Hi guys,
I have a question for the forum.

I arrived in the UK in Feb 1999.

In Nov 2008, I applied for LTR under Tier 1 General. This was rejected due to insufficient funds and I was given right to appeal via AIT. Court hearing was in end of Feb 09 and my appeal was successful. However, I did not receive my passport back from UKBA until May 09. Hence, my ILR was obtained in June even though I could have applied earlier had I received my passport back sooner.

My question is would I be allowed to apply for registration in Feb 2010 and request for discretion to be given due to the delay caused by UKBA? I do have documentation to/from UKBA and my MP during the delay(Feb till May) caused by UKBA.

I am not sure that you can. The delay was caused by the LTR being late, whilst the ILR was granted speedily. I think you need to wait until June 2010 to apply for Naturalisation (not Registration, by the way).

naturalisation or registration?

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply.

I'm slightly confused. I thought as a BOC(british national), I can register as a british citizen instead of naturalisation?

Sorry, I failed to spot that information in your opening post in this topic. Or do you expect people to wade through your previous posts?
