If I allow a month between IPS check & send passport application and travel, will it be sufficient to be able to travel using my original, ie non-British passport?

From what I've seen here it doesn't normally take longer for the whole thing (British passport included) but perhaps someome has other experience?

I sent my application on a monday via the check and send service at the post office and received my original documents back 10 days later (on a wednesday). the documents were: my original non-british passport + naturalisation certificate.
hope this helps
