Hi all,

I have a question, I wonder if someone can answer it.

My status: I am on ILR. I got ILR on HSMP(JR) basis, so I didn’t take Life in UK Test. I work here as engineer.

Please can someone tell me that do I need to take Life in UK Test and/or ESOL.

I thought I only had to Life in UK Test but now I am getting confused so I thought its better to ask than sorry later.

Cheers

Dear coolwater267,
You cannot be exempted from this requirement because you have certain qualifications, or like engineer/doctor/pilot etc. or are from an English-speaking country. The requirement to demonstrate knowledge of life in the UK is specified in law, and these are not grounds for exemption. so you have to take Life In The UK Test/ESOL to become a British Citizen

only if you are over the age of 65, or have a serious physical or mental condition that would prevent you from meeting this requirement You may be exempted from the requirement.

Regards

HSMP(JR) has an exemption, but would be needed for BC application.
