Hi there,
I am just looking into the registration of my son for citizenship (forward thinking). I am waiting for my ILR to come through and my partner has LLR for another 5 years (couldn't apply for ILR as he had an unspent conviction). My question is, do both parents have to have ILR for there children to get citizenship? Or can I apply as I will be getting my ILR in about 2 months?
Please advise
Thanks
Pip

Was born in the UK 2010 whilst we were on Limited Leave to Remain. Also my partner and I are not married but will be in Jan 2012.

Also can you apply for your child as soon as you get granted ILR?

I have been granted ILR and I want to apply for registration for my son. Can I get certified copies sent in of our passports.....is that what the national checking service do??? As we will be travelling all the time now and I can not be without my passport. Also I only have ILR and my fiancé has an ancestry extension......is that ok that only my name is on application. Also we are not married but will be in Jan '12.
Your help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks

so do they accept certified copies, or do they need passports?

NCS will check your original documents, photocopy them, certify them and send your application directly to the HO. You keep the originals.

So they (NCS) will need to see originals. They (HO) will get certified copies.

You can try another NCS. You can use any NCS. does't need to use the one in your council.
PO can't certify passports. Solicitor can but it will probably cost you more than NCS. You can also delay the application until you return from your travel.
