Naturalisation application

Hiya
My husband is applying for BC in a couple of months and I am just completing the application forms.
I have come across the question:
1.8- If you are or have ever been known by any name or names other than the ones mentioned
My husband came to the UK initially as an Asylum seeker, with the name Abdul Khan, and this was recorded. However his correct name is Abdul khan Ahmed, a double barrelled surname. He lived in the UK for 6 years and was unsuccessful with his asylum application, he returned to his country and a few years later we both returned to the UK on a spouse visa, this time with the correct full surname. The UKBA are aware are aware of the previous asylum claim and his previous surname.
Therefore do I need to specify the previous name in the question 1.8 or do you think it will be unnecessary?
Our marriage certificate shows his previous surname as we were married in the UK 9 years ago and this was used in the spouse visa application, I will be submitting this with the BC application.
Could somebody please advise me.
Many thanks

My husband is due to apply for BC very soon. He was employed and paying tax through PAYE between the dates 05/2009-02/2011, but since April 2011 he has been self employed. He has no self assement statement of account yet as the tax year has not been completed, therefore I am going to enclose his initial letter from HMRC when he first registered as self employed. He should also have a NI contribution statement that I will enclose.
Do you think I should call HMRC to request his previous work history and tax info, with regards to his time on PAYE, and send this in, or will the Home Office access this info anyway.
And advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Thank you so much for your help. I will supply his previous PAYE ref and UTR. Do you think I should enclose his previous P60's with the application also?
Also with regards to his different surname do you think this info on the page 13 will be ok:
The previous name that I was known by was Abdul Khan. This was from the years 2000-2006 while living in the UK as an asylum seeker. My name was wrongly recorded when I first entered the UK, the second part of my double barrelled surname (Ahmed) was left off. As I didn’t have any identity documents the surname could not be amended. This was explained to the UKBA when I applied for my spouse visa and there was no problem in the application.
Do you think this information will be ok?
One more silly thing, his name reads Abdul Khan Ahmed on all his docs, do you think it I hyphenate his surname on the form it will be a problem, so it reads Abdul Khan-Ahmed as I don't want the certificate and british passport office to read his surname as a middle name and surname (which is what normally happens).
Many thanks

Write the name (1.5 and 1.6) as it is in his current passport: use hyphen if there is one, don't if there is none.
If the name you want on the certificate is different from the one given in his passport, you'll need to register the name change through deed poll before applying for naturalisation.
You may write the explanation (if you think one is needed) in any way that you think explains the facts / circumstances clearly.
Question 3.3

Hiya
My husband is appying for BC soon. He is a self employed Taxi Driver, and pays his own tax and NI through HMRC.
On the form AN it asks for 3.3 Name of employer or Business and 3.4 Address of employer or Business.
He pays all his own tax and NI but he works through a cab firm who give him the jobs.
Therefore in 3.3 and 3.4 does he need to put his own name and address or the name of the taxi firm.
I have called UKBA twice and have had two different responses from two different advisors.
Would anybody know of a similar experience and be able to advise as I am confused.
Many thanks

Surprised? That you had to post again (2nd time) .... me too! Even my response is missing. Something fishy with the website ... that I am clueless about! Have escalated it.
The response that I had posted earlier (which has disappeared along with your earlier post):
If your husband is self-employed, then the firms that offer him "jobs" are his clients ... not employers.
I hope this doesn't disappear.

Hiya
Hiya
Maybe a bit of a silly question but one I thought I'd ask.
My husband is due to submit his BC application in Feb 2012. His Passport expires in April 2012. He is thinking of renewing his passport next week while in London, as we live quite away from London.
Do you think when he submits his application to the Home Office, they will be concerned about his application if he submits the two passports (a cancelled passport and a current passport) if the cancelled passport still has a few months left on it and is not offically expired?
Many thanks

Hiya
With regards to my previous posting regarding question 3.3 and 3.4 should he make any reference to his taxi firm in the application, as I called home office and they said maybe he should put this information in section 13, do you think this is relevant? Home Office are providing very contradictory advice!
Many thanks

Answer the questions as asked. If you wish to voluntarily offer any additional information, use section 13.

The first page of the AN form it asks for previous HO reference numbers. On my husands ILR paper there are two references.
Which one should be used?
Many thanks

Hiya
Would a friend that has known me for 8 years and works as an Agent for Saga Insurance be ok to sign my BC application. Also would the same person be ok to sign a British Passport application?
Many thanks

If you don't know, just leave blank.

If he holds a profession listed
here he can. Insurance agent from a recognised company is on the list so seems OK. It's not this job title but whether he holds a qualification from a professional body in the UK.

Hi Jambo,
Thanks very much for your reply. I will have to find out if she holds qualifications relating to Insurance, if she doesn't can she still be a referee.
Also can somebody who has an expired British Passport be a referee?
Many thanks
