ESOL requirement

Hello,

My wife will be applying for the ILR when her Spouse Visa is due to end in May 2013. I am currently making preparations so that out application is in order. I am a little bit confused by the wording in the Home Office Documentation regarding the Language requirement and the Life in the UK test.

Her language is at a very good level and she passed the English exams that were require of her during the Spouce application process.

She feels confident enough to take the Life in the UK test without going through ESOL. Does she still need to pass the ESOL exam and provide evidence? or just passing the Life in The UK sufficient enough and we do not require to produce any evidence of ESOL?

Regards
