Just out of interest, has anyone applied for ILR on the basis of 10 years Long Residence, but exceeded the 540 days of allowed absences?

I have, still considering whether it is worth applying for the ILR as I have not heard too many successful applicants who have exceeded the 540 days and been granted it.

How much above the 540 days have you exceeded?

Just short of 700

Good Luck with that and tell me how it goes!
Do you have good reasons for being absent more than 540 days?

Unfortunately, it may be
difficult.

My reason is because I was in a boarding school and was required to return home during the school holidays.
I have previously thoroughly read through the appeal case Vinny posted a couple of months ago and this lady seems to be in a similar scenario to myself and lost the appeal on the grounds that returning home for school holidays is just not a valid reason.

The only difference between my self and the lady in the appeal case is that she has more ties back to her home country than I do.
In my case, I do not even speak the national language of my country which is Malay.
