Documents confirming that you have spent 5 years in the UK..

I'm currently putting together the documents required for my ILR application, and I'm stuck on this requirement: "Document(s) confirming that you have spent a continuous period of 5 years in the UK"
What can I use for this? I don't think I have kept dated letters every month for the last 5 years... so what do they accept?
I have *most* (but not all) of my payslips over the last few years. (There is a period of 3-4 months where I don't have my payslips.) Will that suffice?

it would be helpful if you could mention the type of visa you are applying upon.

That should suffice. I got my ILR (on Tier 2) 2 weeks ago.
Mine was an odd case where my previous WP employer is no longer in communication. So I got an employment history record from HMRC and about 80% of my payslips for the first 2 years (my initial employer) and only the latest payslip for the current employer.

Ah, fair point, I'm applying from Tier 2 (general) after 5 years.

By the way, do you get any of the original documents back?

Which ones do you want returned?

Payslips in particular.
Also, my tenancy agreement..

Both will be returned.
That said, why do you need to submit a tenancy agreement when applying for settlement? Does the form tell you to or is it because you "want" to?

As part of "Documents confirming that you have spent 5 years in the UK"...
(I've only gotten 1 answer to my original question of what documents I need to bring, and that answer suggesting bringing tenancy agreement.)

have you been on WP for the past 5 years.? Which Visa do you hold at the moment?

I originally entered on a work permit, and then I became a tier 2 (general). I have my original work permit, as well as payslips.

Hi MrBrilliant
Basically you've been on WP for 5 years. And so any evidence from all the employers (in the form of payslips/letters) would do. Usually, this proof is not required from TIER1 (General) ppl as far as I know and so wanted to know your Visa category.
