Car Insurance Conviction vs ILR

Hi,
I have my ILR PEO date on 05-NOV-2013 but ended up in a Court hearing for possession of an Uninsured Car on 26-SEP-2013.
Have read thru threads that speaks on Insurance Conviction but could not see anything that fits my scenario, please advise if someone have across a similar situation.
Though the hearing date and PEO date are very much close, it is quite possible that there won't be an outcome from the court hearing (and I might slip thru!!??). But I am looking forward to disclose the truth with UKBA.
I had parked my vehicle with a private garage for a repair and sell off by them. I had a clarification from them that the car need not to be insured whilst in their premises. So I cancelled the existing insurance on the Car. There is NO incident of the car getting caught on the road by Police. Only incident is the possession of the car which was Uninsured with me as a Registered Keeper .The car was with the Garage awaiting for a buyer for nearly 3 months. I have a letter from garage stating the period the car was with them in their Trade Premises which covers the period as mentioned in the court letter.
If convicted by court I do believe in the current weather there is 100% probability for the rejection and to wait for the cooling period for the conviction to be spent!
Can I hear any cases of success in such a scenario even if convicted?
Thank you,
Sak
