ILR queries

I was wondering if anybody can advice on a couple of things for me regarding my ILR application.

1. Firstly is there a requirement to show maintenance funds for ILR application. I have gone through the Guidance Notes and it doesn't seem to show anything regarding maintenance funds.

2. My son who was born in UK last year is on dependent Tier 1 visa. Do I have to apply for his ILR as well or can I apply for his naturalisation once my ILR application is accepted.

3. I know it is now compulsory for all applications after 28th Oct 2013 to show life in UK test and also knowledge of English Language. Since I have studied my MSc in UK, is this sufficient to show knowledge of English Language? My wife has studied MSc in US, similarly can we show her MSc degree as knowledge of English Language?

Your replies would be much appreciated

Thanks

1. If your application is based on Tier 1 general then there is no requirement for maintainence funds.
2. If you are not planning to travel shortly after getting ILR, then you don't need to apply for your son's ILR. You can apply for child's registeration as BC.
3. Your degree should be fine. You'll stiil need to do Life in the uk test. Same goes for your wife. Your wife degrees hould be accepted. If she is not US citizen, then you'll need certificate from UK NARIC I think.
