ILR Eligibility

I would be completing 5 yers on Tier 1 visa in March 2014 although my Tier 1 extension visa is valid until may 2014.
My question is, Can i apply for ILR in March 2014 or i can only do that 28 days before my visa expiry?
Any evidence case, rule link would be really appreciated.

Just to clarify...
Does it mean i can apply as soon as i complete my 5 years and dont have to wait for my current visa to end?

They are not, you have created numerous topics asking similar questions all relating to your ILR. You need to stick to one area so that people know what is going on, please.
