I've ILR status in the Uk since Mar-2013 and due to my mothers health I moved to India leaving my job and accommodation, now everything here in India is back to normal.I know we can stay outside UK not more than 2 years.

I have savings in the UK bank account to support me and my wife(ILR status as well) and I've arranged the rented accommodation in the UK last week starting from 01/02/2014 for 6 months.


I was just wondering during the immigration checks do I need to provide any extra documents/information to explain my stay outside UK for around 15 months.

If asked, then explain that you are returning for the purpose of settlement.

After receiving ILR I went to US on company business I stayed there for 3 months and 2 weeks on return back, boarder control asked me only two questions:
1. How did you get your ILR (I told worked for 5 yrs applied ILR and I got it)
2. How long you have been away? (3 months and 2 weeks)

Stamped and let me go..

I could have gone outside UK for any reason, but she didn't bother to ask me why I have been outside over 3 months.

thanks for sharing your experience. however i was just worried as my stay is 15 months.

anyone else with any advice????????

I am working in middle east to get experience in Oil & Gas and Engineering field to get good offer in UK. I am going to london after 1 year 7 months of my ILR. Will my ILR cancelled or override by IO at UK airport.
