This has probably been asked many times, but I am still unable to clear my head around the 28 days period before which you shouldn't apply. Here's my situation. Got the initial Tier 1 on 1st May 2009, but entered UK on 9th May 2009. Extension valid until 18th May 2014. My question is whether I qualify on 1st May 2014 or 9th May 2014? counting back 28 days, when should I apply to be safe, is it 3rd April 2014 (before the new fees are in place) or 11th April 2014?

You help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

You can count from 1st May 2009 as you entered UK within 90 days of initial tier 1 (g).

You will be eligible to apply for your ILR 28 days before 1st May 2014.
