Hi I need some help please. I applied for my ilr today and caseworker has hold the application for further check. There was a tax amendment required for 2010-11 tax (first application).

I have already amended my tax return for 2010-11 and waiting for HMRC to correct it but already paid the correct taxes to match the first application and submitted the proof of full tax paid and the new tax returns sent to HMRC.
My extension and ilr is based on employment with a very reputed company and everything else is in order.

I applied today on Saturday as premium service and case worker said she needs to do further checks and there is no senior in today to consult so application is on hold.

Is it normal? Any help will be really appreciated............

Currently very common for Tier 1 ILR applications to be put on hold while stringent checks are made regarding tax discrepancies.

Thanks for your kind and quick reply. That is a slight relief that its not just me.
Are there any successes recently similar to may cases where amended tax return was sent and full tax paid but waiting from HMRC to correct it.

It may be too soon to report significant success stories due to the length of time it takes to 1. Carry out checks and 2. For HMRC to update tax amendments.
You do have the fact that you have attempted to regularise your tax before submitting the ILR application in your favour. Some haven't and may find themselves in deep water.

Hi Usernew123,

Just out of interest, why do you have to amend your tax returns. I am preparing for ILR and want to have everything double checked.
My Company deducts Tax and submits it. I haven't filed any Tax return, I just get P60 from the Company.
Do I need to do something.

I would really appreciate guidance.

If you are an employee and do not have any other income then you would not normally fill a self assessment tax return. Your income tax would be deducted at source through PAYE. If that's the case then you would not need to do anything else. The P60's provided by your employer would show the annual tax deductions along with your annual salaried income.

Hi Usernew123,
Which PEao did you go to? In my opinion you should have sent a postal application knowing the fact that your tax amendment is still in process. Now it depends on the HO if they accept the fact that you sent the tax amendment before your ILR application was made. I wish you all the best. Please keep us updated with the outcome. All the best!

You should fine , just chase HMRC so it could be done asap.

There are people in similar situation like you however i know people who did amendment got ILR .

No more discussion about HMRC, else the topic will be locked.

A quick question on your supporting documents

Did you submit P60 and SA302 as well ? or did case worker requested for any other documents.

yes i submitted them and caseworker did not ask for anything else......

No, there is no way to track status.

It's just a waiting game for u now. I hope u get your ILR pretty soon but since your application will be now processed as per postal application timelines..the waiting time can be anywhere between 2 weeks to few months.

When did you sent your tax amendments? Was it just before ur application?
