Child born before ILR - travel permissibility

Hello,

My son was born before my husband and I got our ILR. Son is five and doesn’t have a British passport or any official papers except birth certificate. He has a red book and has been registered with a GP since birth and is currently in school.

If we travel outside the UK, is he covered under our ILR or does he need his own ILR papers or a British passport in order to travel?

Thank you for you help.

No he is not.

He needs his own passport and visa/ILR or British citizenship/passport to return to the UK.
