Waiting for priority service return/online application query

I have until Sept 2021 on my Tier 2 (general) but am about to pass the 5 year eligibility this month. I am conscious there is a backlog and no super priority service currently which is what I was hoping to do as soon as I reached the 5 year mark. Anyone in a similar position and thinking of waiting it out until the priority service hopefully returns? With the current situation and all my family overseas I am loathe to be without my passport for 6 months, but not sure if waiting it out till the priority service is a stupid decision given we've no idea how long it might be till that resumes, and is it safer just to get it started. Just interested to know what others are doing.
On that note, I started the online application before I knew the super priority service was suspended. I didn't get very far, just to the first part where you answer questions about the applicant. Not submitted or paid. If I do hold off applying for now, has the fact that I've started the application 'triggered' anything - I thought I read at one point once you started the application you only had a certain amount of time to complete it . Or can I just leave it as is and return to it in a few months time if it wasn't actually submitted?
Thanks in advance

If you haven't submitted the application then it means you haven't applied yet and that application might be extirpated from system in few months. Aside this, since you still have hefty amount of leave enables you to cater your all logistics, so better to apply when you will see the resurrection of priority appointments. But unfortunately as the things stand now, there is no escape from waiting whip.

The only thing 'triggered' is that it gets assigned a ref number i.e. GWF and nothing else, people do dry run to see what the online forms contain in terms of questions and or what documents to prepare in support of application with no negative effect. If it is the initial stages it is as you stated you can always do so when you are ready. For a created application, if you keep signing in i.e. their is activity on it does not get deleted it is when there is no activity on the account/application that it gets removed or deleted.
Thanks in advance

If the application hasn't yet been submitted with the fee then there won't be any reference number allocated to it.

For timelines on ILR applcations(5 year route). Keep an eye and decide if you want to take the plunge.

Except if this has changed or practice not carried over, once you create an application and at any certain point save, you do get assigned reference number.
I seek clarification.

Those numbers you might have had experienced must have been the by default fragments of your own login credentials or the spoors left by any of the clashing installed app probably on trial version. An unpaid/unsubmitted application is deemed as of never been filled out.
