ILR LR Start Count: "Entry" or "Valid From" date.

Hello Forum Members,

I'm preparing to apply for my 10-year Long Residence ILR this year but I'm not sure which date to start counting from.

I initially entered the UK with a Tier 4 Visa on the 25/09/2011 but that Tier 4 visa was Valid from 14/09/2011. I have been on multiple Tier 4 Visas since then.

I have read through so many threads on this issue, but the answers are conflicting. Some say "entry" date while others say "valid from" date so it has gotten me confused. Can the experts help.

I am also planning on applying for Super Priority 28 days before the 10-year mark as permitted by the guidelines. I'm stating this because some people mentioned that either date is fine because they'll consider the application after the 10-year mark due to processing time. So in my case that will not apply and they'll consider my application within the 28 days prior to the 10-year mark due to the Super Priority.

Apologies if this has been thrashed repeatedly but there are just so many conflicting responses on this forum.

For SET(LR), it starts from the first UK entry. Super priority is suspended for SET(LR) due to corona for now. If in future it comes back and you plan to use SP, I would suggest you book a biometrics appointment only when you complete 10 years lawful residence (to be on the safe side), although you can apply online when you complete 10 years minus 28 days.

Thank you for your quick response. If you don't mind explaining, why exactly do you advise that I book the Biometrics for after I complete the 10 years? I ask this because the guidance officially allows for applications within the 28-day period prior to the completion of the 10 years.

SET(LR) guidance mentions the concession period of 28 days in “early applications section.” It uses the word “can grant” NOT “must grant”. My suggestion was just to be on the safer side to book biometrics when you complete 10 years (so a decision is made when you actually have completed 10 years especially if you apply via SP, given it resumes).
