SET (LR) application forum questions

Hello,

I hope everyone is staying safe during these uncertain times. My husband is about to apply for SET (LR). We are a bit confused about some of the questions in the application forum and would appreciate your help.

How long have you lived in the UK?
He has been living in the UK for over 11 years now, since September 2009, but he only just completed his 10 years of continuous residence for this application. How should he answer this question?

When did you first enter the UK?
Is this the date when his qualifying period begins? Or the date since he first entered the UK (September 2009)?

For the time outside the UK question:
  • Is it enough to mention "Personal" or "business" or is it better to add more details?
  • How to input a trip where he travelled to more than one country? We are thinking of explaining how many days in each country in the notes
Also, my husband doesn't have any cultural or social ties in his country of nationality as he only lived there during his childhood... is this enough of an explination? I mean he has been living in the UK for over 11 years, his entire life is here really.

Thanks so much for all your help!!

If he is “living” in UK as a main home since 11 years then it will be 2009

When did you first enter the UK?
Is this the date when his qualifying period begins? Or the date since he first entered the UK (September 2009)?
This question usually clarifies in small print if it is based on the qualifying period. If not, state Sep 2009

For the time outside the UK question:
  • Is it enough to mention "Personal" or "business" or is it better to add more details?
former case
  • How to input a trip where he travelled to more than one country? We are thinking of explaining how many days in each country in the notes
list the final destination. UK entry/exit dates matter only. Add the transit country in the reason section

Also, my husband doesn't have any cultural or social ties in his country of nationality as he only lived there during his childhood... is this enough of an explanation? I mean he has been living in the UK for over 11 years, his entire life is here really.
Answer as it is

Thanks so much for all your help!!

Changing Jobs - SET(LR) Pending

Hi all,

My partner is currently on FLR(M) Leave to Remain, which allows him to work and expires in May. He applied for SET(LR) earlier this year in February and gave details for his last job in the application form. Does he need to inform the Home Office that he is changing jobs as his application is still pending?

Also, what are his options if his SET(LR) application is rejected for whatever reason? (hopefully not!) Can he apply for a an extension to his FLR(M)? (he has only been on FLR(M) for 2.5 years, so he could possibly apply for the other 2.5 years?)

Thanks so much for your help in advance!

SET(LR) has no employment requirement. There is nothing to report. Extension is possible as usual if all fails
