Tier 5 -> extension-> marriage -> ILR

Hi there,

I have been thoroughly researching but haven't really came up with a clear answer.

I am Australian, came here 2 years ago on a youth mobility visa which got extended due to the covid pandemic as I am a health care worker. I also fell in love and am now married to a British guy. My plan is to switch from my extended tier 5 visa to a spouse visa before it expires (shouldn't be any issues as meet eligibility criteria). The long term goal is to get indefinite leave to remain. From what I understand the time on the tier 5 visa does not count towards ILR and therefore assume the time on the extension won't either (haven't seen this written anywhere). Basically my question is, does anyone know or have had an experience where the time in the tier 5 visa was counted towards ILR?

Cheers

Sophie

Tier 5 time does NOT count towards ILR, not even the extended time as it is the same tier 5 visa and conditions.

You need 5 years on the spouse visa, from the date of apprval/brp, before you can apply for ilr.
