ILR SET(M) NHS entitlement for cancer query

Hi there,
My husband applied for ILR in April this year and has since been diagnosed with cancer.
We're aware that British cancer patients are exempt from prescriptions, but where does he stand? Is he entitled to this exemption? Also, will his treatment be free? Historically he has been paying the NHS surcharge, although he applied for ILR in April and we are yet to hear back from the Home Office with their decision.
We would appreciate some advice.

He gets the same nhs treatments as before and as British citizens. Nothing changes.

The IHS surcharge is not the same as paying for NHS treatment directly at the point of service.

OK, thank you, so does this mean that he will be eligible for free prescriptions even though his ILR application is with the HO?

Yes.
