Hi Team,
I have a general query on ILR visa. My wife is on T2 general visa and me and my so are on T2 general dependent visa. My wife's 5 year continuous working tenure is completed in Oct 22 and my 5 year continious working tenure will be completed in April 23. And our current T2 general visa is expiring in Nov 23. Based on this scenario please could you suggest me when is it best to apply for ILR for me, my son and my wife. We are also in the process for applying LIFE IN UK and ILETs.
Regards,
Maddy

Your wife applies for ILR using SET(O) in November. You and your son will apply for an extension under the skilled worker dependant visa before visa expiry. When you have completed your 5 years in 2023, you and your son both apply using SET(O) together (I assumed your son is born outside the UK)

Why is an extension needed if the dependent visa expires in November 2023?

Thanks both of you for your reply..thats helpful. Yes my son was born outside UK. So to conclude, my wife can apply for ILR in October 22 while me and my son continue to stay on existing tier 2 general dependent visa... Next year, when i will complete my 5 year in april then i can apply for ILR while my son can apply for citizenship(new passport) directly rather than applying for ILR as my wife might have received the ILR by that time.. Is my understand correct?

Your son requires ilr if he was born abroad and can apply for citizenship when the parents do.
