ILR or British Citizenship application

Hi y'all,
This must have been asked a million times, but couldn't find it in search. I'm on a 5 year path via spousal visa (British citizen). My leave to enter was sept 2017, and my FLR(M) was renewed in 2020, and valid till 11/2023(COVID delays). I would have done 5 year uninterrupted stay in the UK by September 2022. My question is what should I be applying for? ILR, British Citizenship, or both? My understanding is that I should be eligible for British citizenship with 5 years from my leave to enter, but I'm also reading I need ILR first before I can apply for British citizenship. Some clarity will be appreciated.

Thanks

My question is what should I be applying for? ILR,

You need to apply for ILR.

ILR is mandatory before you can apply for citizenship.

sept 2017 you entered the uk ?

sep 2022 you will have 5 years in the uk, so you can apply 28 days before that date

for eg you first entered 01 sept 2017 > 5 years will be done on 01 sept 2022 > less 28 days

so 4th aug, so i think you can apply any time after 4th aug this year

cause you are on spouse visa, the day you get your ilr, you would be eligible for applyling for naturalisation.

let say you went for same day priority service on 10 aug > assuming, you got your ILR confirmation that very day, brp arrvies in 7-10 days..

so 20aug onwards you can apply for naturalisation, considering you have fulfillled other conditions
not been out of uk for 90 day in the last yr;
be in the uk when your application reaches the HO
