ILR appilcation submission - 28 days before WHAT?

Hello - Can anyone please clarify this matter for me?

ILR applications are allowed 28 days before someone completes 5 years in the UK, that is, 28 days before someone entered the UK 5 years ago.

However, I have also read on some bulletin boards that one can also apply for ILR 28 days before the VISA WAS GRANTED 5 years ago. This is allowed provided the person entered the UK within 3 months of the visa being granted. Is this correct?

Which rule applies to you dopends on what your visa route is. Different visa have different requirements.

So useful to state what your visa category is.

You count from initial visa issue date and can apply 5 years minus 28 days for ilr.
