Inquiry Regarding Leaving the UK During Settlement Processing Period

I have recently received a message from the Home Office regarding my settlement application in the UK.

The Home Office informed me that although they would normally decide on my application within six months of submitting my biometrics, it is not going to be possible in my case due to the exceptionally complex issues raised by my application. They have indicated that they require further time to consider my case thoroughly and reach a decision. I submitted my biometrics on 12 April 2023.

As I have to attend conferences outside the country in the next six months, I am concerned about my situation. Currently, I have a Tier 1 visa (global talent) which will be expired on 17 March 2024. I'm wondering whether I can leave the country while waiting for settled status since my current visa will be expired on 17 March 2024.

Therefore, I would like to ask if you could advise me on this matter to check what steps I should take next.

If you leave the UK while you have an application pending, your application will automatically be withdrawn and you lose the fee paid.
