Employer changing name during ILR application

Hi,

I came to UK on the 8th Oct. 2000, and has been studying and working in UK since. I'm currently holding a work permit and working in a university.
I've started the process of applying for an ILR, based on the 10-year lawful long-term residency. At the momnet, I'm trying
to finalise the documents and forms, and getting ready to submit the ILR application to home office.

The thing is that my university is in the process of changing its name, i.e., Changing its name from university A to university B. This change will come into
effect in the middle of this October. My questions are:

1. When my employer changes its name, do I need change my work permit, i.e., get a new work permit? (i'm not chaning employment, it is the
university changing its name)

2. Should I still continue with my ILR application?

Many thanks for any advice. Much appreciated.

Yan

Using your numbering :-
  1. No, if it is a simple change of name, no need to do anything.
  2. Yes!

Hi John,

I am in the same situation, my company has changed the name and i am due for an ILR(Wp 5 years) , what are the documentations i need from the employer to state that the name has changed. (name change is very minor from ABC (manchester) Ltd to ABC Ltd. The company number and structure remains the same).

Thank you in advance

Regards,
kns

A letter to state the same - the change of name from X to Y - will help. Good if the employer's unique ID / reference number (if any allocated by UKBA certifying inclusion in Register of Sponsors) is mentioned in the letter.

IMHO ...

As additional evidence consider going to the Companies House website and then filling in the present company name. You will then pull up basic details about the company, including its previous name(s) and date(s) the name changed.

thanks John

Company name change issue while applying for ILR

I had similar situation as yours. My company name changed recently. I went to PEO Croydon with a letter from HR mentioning the Company name change but they didn't accept it. Rather they wanted a confirmation letter from UK Work permit office Sheffield. Hence my ILR was withheld. All my originals are with Croydon office and they have given me 14 days time to get the letter.
I asked my HR to apply for that but it looks like it will take 3-4 weeks.

I am on work permit and working for the same company since last 5 years. Now I am worried if my application might be rejected.

Please share any information/suggestion you have.
Thanks
