After DCPR issued do I have to wait 12 months for BC?

I've sent my DCPR application over a month ago, however I see people getting their documents with current date. I sent evidence of exercising treaty rights for the last 8 years so I thought I would get a document that would certify I got PR in 2013 or 2014 which would allow me to go for BC straight away. If the DCPR is dated with the date they produce the DCPR(e.g November) will I have to wait 12 months (so for example November 2017) to start the process of BC? I got confused...can someone explain please?

Assuming you are not married with BC spouse and so will be making a section 6(1) of BNA application to naturalise...
Your understanding is correct.
Issue date of DCPR is irrelevant. Date of acquisition of PR is all that matters.
The $64,000 is whether the caseworker understands that at the time you shoot for the privilege of citizenship with your hard-earned DCPR.

thanks noajthan, but how is the BC caseworker supposed to know when I actually acquired PR, even if I explain it in a letter? (please tell me I'm not supposed to send all the documentation I sent for the DCPR application again, as it was 1kg of documents!!! - I haven't checked the application for BC yet so I don't know what's required!).

Because it is recorded in a UKVI database, which they have access to and will check while considering your application.

No, of course not. That would defeat the whole object of applying for a DCPR separately in the first place.

Aaaahh OK that makes sense now (I had no idea they were that organised

)
Is there a way to find out when they considered someone to have obtained PR? Will I need to call them?
thank you ohara

Submit a fast-track SAR to the UKVI. It's free, takes approx. 20 working days and will contain the PR date they have recorded for you.

Alternatively, if you apply through the NCS, they can call the HO and check the date for you.

...
After 400-500 years of evolution of public administration and the growth of the Civil Service, '
organised' is U.K.'s middle name.
(But
joined-up thinking - that's another story!)
