i posted out my EEA2 application 20 days ago as a spouse of an EEA national working in the UK, but i still didnt get my COA, i think its too early to worry, but i would really appreciate if you guys can provide me with email, or phone number concerning request of COA from UKBA liverpool,

i ve contacted UKBA this morning, concerning my COA, well after long waiting on line, they answered and they said that my application is not yet validated, and still enquiry is going about it, i didnt understand what does this mean? its already 20 days and no COA and even my application is not yet validated? i just dont understand anything....is this normal?

Which number did ring? I am in a similar situation it has bee now 1 month and I have not received a COA and need to request passports as I will be traveling next month, I dialed the number above and it is an automated answer machine

The COA should be issued by UKBA "immediately". Not months later, but really immediately.

as you see , only lucky people are getting COA within 2 weeks, but some people do get it after two months, i dont know how UKBA is working, and why it is too slow processing ...in other countries it doesnt take more than few weeks to get all residency matters sorted out, but here it seems that we are still far from such.

im currently working, my employer will allow me to work untill my EEA FP will expire in December, they need my COA as to renew my contract, but things are going too slow, after weeks since i posted my EEA2, UKBA said they they didnt validate my application yet, and they are still making their enquiries......so i dont know when they will post that COA...

Write UKBA a letter. Send it by registered mail.

Indicate that by law they are required to issue the COA "immediately". You can quote the Directive below.

Ask them when you can expect your COA.

Article 10 - Issue of residence cards

1. The right of residence of family members of a Union citizen who are not nationals of a Member State shall be evidenced by the issuing of a document called «Residence card of a family member of a Union citizen» no later than six months from the date on which they submit the application. A certificate of application for the residence card shall be issued immediately.

You can also quote the immigration regulations 2006 regulation 17 (3) On receipt of an application under paragraph (1) or (2) and the documents that are required to accompany the application the Secretary of State shall immediately issue the applicant with a certificate of application for the residence card...

Hi guys, hope your well.

I have called the HO and they said my application is not yet validated, that they are not issuing COA's immediately anymore, they issue them when your application is revised and signed off as a valid application.

They advised me to call them in 2 weeks which doesn't really help!!

28 October - application not yet validated.

Explain to them that UKBA is required to issue the Certificate of Application immediately and that they are not doing so.

Ask for their help in fixing the problem. Please tell us what they say.

i heared from somebody with a similar situation that he phoned to UKBA and they said that his application is not validated yet....and he has to wait more time... he got his COA after 6 weeks from date of application ..seems now that they dont issue COA immediatly or at least after two weeks as they used to do.

seems that they are trying to make things slower.....this is what they call improvement in their work hahaha...

Don't just phone, write to them. They are fond of quoting the 2006 immigration regulations; point out to them that "issue immediately" is what they are required to do. If you wish to be cheeky, you might ask what the term immediately means. Your case appears to be simple, so they have no excuse about having to conduct exhaustive investigation.

Hi Guys,

I've got news, I requested our passports and COA over the phone on Tuesday, I got my COA and Passports on Saturday.

29 September - Sent Application
30 September - Application Received by HO
28 October - phoned HO - application not yet validated.
01 November - Phoned again and requested COA and Passports
05 November Got COA and Passports.

Now, when I applied I was under a T4 student visa, I was advice by 2 different solicitors that the important thing to do is to apply before my current leave expired because once i sent the application and received by the HO my status will remain the same. ( student T4)

My COA says that they cannot confirm my right to work in the UK. I thought I could as I applied before my visa expired.

Any help? should I complain or write a letter?

UKBA issues different COAs depending on the family relationship. What is your family relationship to the EU citizen?

This was true if you have switched between two categories of UK immigration rules (tier-4 to tier-1 for example). I don't think this is true when switching from UK immigration rules to EEA rules.

This pretty much confirms that EEA family permits are not meant to excuse employers. This is not so much related to this thread. I'm not sure my computer skills are up to this...

OK guys, thank you but I have some great news, today I received back my file from the HO with my Residence Card!!!

I got a parcel this morning and it was quite strange as I was not expecting anything. It was the file I sent to the HO. I worried before opening it as I thought I had been refused or something. But I found my RC paper work!!!

In total 39 days!!! Is it a kind of record?

My EEA4 application waas posted to the HO on 2/10/2011.
Received on 04/10/2011
Called HO yesterday and was told that my application has not been validated. I urgently require my COA for my job

OMG!! I just posted my last week and expecting I can have my passport back so that I can travel for Christmas. Now it just looks like a wishful thinking then~~~~~~~~
